Introducing: the Icon of the Future

In 2025, the PR3 Global Standards Panel launched Rebrand Reuse, a global design initiative to find a standardized symbol for reusable packaging and the reuse movement. The initiative solicited symbol concepts from designers around the world, with over 225 entries from 29 countries.

Using a rigorous evaluation process and consumer testing, the global reuse symbol was selected by both a global jury of prominent designers, business leaders, and cultural influencers and PR3’s Standards Panel. The symbol was designed by Epigrama Studios, a design collective from Colombia. It is now trademarked by PR3 and incorporated into the PR3 Labeling Standard.

The new reuse symbol offers a universal icon for the reuse movement.  It is intended to clearly identify reusable products and packaging and the infrastructure that helps circulate them.  The symbol differentiates reusables from recyclable and other single-use waste, enabling consumers to keep reusable items out of recycling, landfill and other waste streams — all while inspiring the shift towards an un-throwaway world.

Thank you to all who participated in Rebrand Reuse for your creativity and thoughtful contributions to the reuse movement.
