Open for Submissions March - May 2025

What is Rebrand Reuse?Presented by the PR3 Global Standards Panel, Rebrand Reuse is a design initiative and campaign to build a future where reuse is the norm. From March through May 2025, Rebrand Reuse has an open call for submissions for a reuse symbol: the icon of the future.
A clear, recognizable symbol that identifies reusable packaging and infrastructure is essential. This symbol will inspire the shift away from single-use packaging while acting as a beacon for how new reuse systems work. Integrated into the PR3 Labelling Standards, this symbol would differentiate reusable products from recyclables and other single-use waste, enabling consumers to keep reusable items out of recycling and landfills. Explore why reuse is essential here.
Beyond adhering to our Submission Criteria, an ideal reuse symbol will be clearly recognizable and distinct from existing recycling symbols; it will be visually appealing, memorable, and clearly understood; it will be legible, scaleable, and adaptable no matter it’s application; it will inspire action and encourage reuse adoption while meaningfully resonating with diverse audiences; most importantly, it will become a symbol for change, catalyzing a new, more sustainable future while inspiring people across generations. For more details, review our full Symbol Criteria.
Starting in June, 2025, our distinct jury panel — including renowned industry leaders from the worlds of design, sustainability, and beyond — will review all submissions and recommend their favorite symbols to the PR3 Global Standards Panel. The panel will then integrate any symbol(s) it selects into the PR3 Standards.
We want the selected symbol to become the icon of the future — as recognized and loved as the peace sign and as action-oriented as the recycling symbol.
Once a symbol is selected, our goal is to incorporate the symbol into the PR3 Standards, an open-source blueprint intended for scaling reuse around the world. From there, we aim to spread the symbol across the globe, inviting communities, businesses, non-profits, and government agencies to adopt and use the symbol as they scale reuse systems and solutions.
Rebrand Reuse will accept submissions through May 31st, 2025.
