Submission Criteria

Color & Background

Submit designs in a single high-contrast color of your choice on a white or transparent background. Please note that the PR3 Standards Panel may adjust the final color for practical purposes, such as printing or embossing.


File Formats

Submssions must include both a flattened image of the design as well as a vector version to allow scalability without loss of quality.


Visual Clarity

The resolution of the submitted design must ensure that details are clear and reproducible when embossed, maintaining visual impact across all sizes.


Content Restrictions

Submitted designs must not include copyrighted or trademarked elements unless they are explicitly owned or licensed for this purpose.


Symbol Criteria Compliance

Submitted designs must adhere to the Symbol Criteria outlined below, including legibility at small sizes and when embossed.


Description

Submitted designs may include a brief description to explain your design, research, and/or how your design inspires, enables, or encourages reuse.

Symbol Criteria

Clarity and Distinction

The symbol must be easily recognizable and clearly distinguishable from existing symbols, particularly the infinity symbol ♾️ and other recognizable recycling symbols, including the chasing arrows or mobius loop and the Green Dot .


Visual Appeal and Memorability

The symbol should be visually attractive, simple to reproduce (e.g. easy to draw), and memorable. This is an opportunity to create a lasting, ubiquitous symbol like the recycling symbol — a defining marker for the Reuse movement.


Actionable Symbolism

The symbol should Inspire action and encourage the adoption of reusable containers and systems. Consider eliciting joy or excitement to motivate adoption and action.


Meaningful Representation

The symbol must resonate with diverse audiences and effectively represent the concept of reuse. The Reuse movement needs a symbol that reflects the warm, welcoming, and innovative direction for circularity.


Recognizable and Adaptable

The symbol should be recognizable and clearly understood while being adaptable to various contexts, cultures, and languages.


Scalability and Readability

The symbol must remain clear and legible when scaled up or down, including when applied in small sizes or embossed onto containers. Ensure clarity and legibility at embossing and a minimum size of 1.5 cm by 1.5 cm.
